Objectives
The PhD course in Psychology, Neuroscience and Data Science aims at providing an interdisciplinary scientific knowledge covering the following fields:

- Psychology;
- Health (prevention, diagnosis and treatment);
- Medical Statistics, Epidemiology and Data Science.

Topics involved are the following:

- Identification of genetic and environmental risk factors for chronic and acute diseases;
- Investigation of causal mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disorders via an integrated analysis of data set from different sources;
- Development and application of novel statistical methods;
- Evaluation of the effectiveness of clinical and community trials and of preventive and educational interventions;
- Identification of the neurophysiological and anatomical correlates of cognitive processes and emotions in normal subjects and patients with neurological and psychiatric diseases in the life span.

This PhD provides the study of human behaviors in both the historical perspective and the view of the most modern Neuroscience including the use of functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), extending to virtual reality, and robotics.

This PhD course guarantees teaching and research at international standards and it is open to foreign students with the aim to achieve a competitive professional profile in the international scenario concerning speculative and applicative research. Teaching and research provide expertize to design observational and experimental studies, to perform statistical analyses on diverse data set involving “big data management and analysis”, including machine learning and data mining, from Genomics to Systemic Neuroscience.
